Our engines are built with some of the highest quality components and machining precision available today.

We use a profilometer to measure our surfacing roughness average (ra) when machining your components instead of guessing or visually comparing like many shops do. New multi layer steel (MLS) gaskets require a very smooth surface, about 10-30 ra depending on the combination of iron and aluminum components and application. If using older generation gaskets the surface needs to be a little rougher than MLS gaskets to stay sealed. It is virtually impossible to visually tell the difference of 60 ra and 30 ra, let alone 10 ra without an accurate measuring system. What this means for you is a cylinder head gasket that may last for 150,000 miles instead of only 15,000 miles. A surface that is too rough will cause gasket tearing as the parts shift and move around. Our CBN and PCD insert type surfacing machine is capable of any roughness average that may be needed.
